Call to Worship:
(responsive)
We do not simply cling to old ways of doing things,
for God is creating a new day among us.
We have wearied of calling on God.
Yet our Creator offers us water in the wilderness.
Happy are
those who can look beyond their own troubles.
All who seek
to help others will find new life.
The call of God is gentle but persistent.
God waits for our offer to serve in Christ’s name.
Surely God is
faithful and will be with us.
Blessed be
our God from everlasting to everlasting!
All praise to Christ Jesus, who forgives and heals.
All praise to the Spirit, who makes all things new.
(Congregation may be
seated.)
Prayer of Approach:
(in unison)
Faithful God, we recognize your
abiding affirmation of us
especially when we are in deep need.
We come to you in worship,
aware that some of the things in our lives paralyse us
and separate us from you
and keep us from being at our best.
We have become so accustomed to
this as normal,
that we seldom recognize our need for your healing touch.
Yet, we are attracted by your
promises
and drawn by your love.
Bring healing and peace to raise
us up
that we might become instruments of healing in our world
in Jesus Christ who taught us to pray…
The Prayer of Jesus:
VU 959
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil
for the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours,
now and forever.
(Any children present may
come to the chancel steps for the blessing.)
Conversation and Blessing:
(by the congregation in unison)
God bless you and keep you;
God’s face shine upon you and be gracious unto you.
God
smile upon you and give you peace.
(The children may leave for
their class.)
A Requested Hymn (seated)
– Near to the Heart of God
There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God,
A place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.
O Jesus, blest Redeemer, sent from the heart of God,
Hold us, who wait before Thee, near to the heart of
God.
There is a place of comfort sweet, near to the heart of God,
A place where we our Saviour meet, near to the heart of God.
O Jesus, blest Redeemer, sent from the heart of God,
Hold us, who wait before Thee, near to the heart of
God.
There is a place of full release, near to the heart of God,
A place where all is joy and peace, near to the heart of God.
O Jesus, blest Redeemer, sent from the heart of God,
Hold us, who wait before Thee, near to the heart of
God.

There will be a Sunday School class downstairs and nursery care is also provided. Today’s Sunday School leader is Louise Stayzer and the Nursery Attendant is Brenda Bradley.
